*****CHILEAN FLY FISHING FLOAT TRIPS ON GREAT RIVERS, EMAIL info@jacktrout.com*****

Small fishing villages that dot the coastline as we drive through areas still unscaved by the modern world. A church that was built in the 1860’s, all by ships one by one that brought wood into this remote region of Patagonia Chile. Once along time ago, this valley and its cattle trails used as a hideout for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, thus continuing the wonderland of towering high peaks
that tell the tales of yesteryear, lined with native woods and Alerce forest second only in age to the Sequoia gigantea of Northern California. A legend that reigns true unknown to most, that some places on earth are still left untouched by mans need to grow in every direction.

Scott Miller and David Harker are coming next week! Better tie up some caddis for my favorite spring creeks!
David Harker enjoys a famous Chilean beer in a restaurant beloved by thousands…
Scott Miller, a high school principle from Idaho Falls, on a holiday break well deserved.
Gnocchi casted in a starring role with shrimp as the supporting actors.
Afterwards, a photo with the owner Alessandro and a group of happy ongowers, content and full. Ready for and evening of dry fly fishing.
Once arrived at our cabin, all is well!
David sticks many on dries in a spring creek that only perfection could describe, with an evening hatch as timely as Old Faithful…
The means by which we travel the rivers….. Name you ask?
Dan….Dan-drift!
Come now and float with me in Patagonia Chile on 5 different rivers or just one.

A small brown with colors that embrace elegance and beauty in a net
made by Brodin.
At dark on a private place, Carola catches here first trout on a fly rod! We are safe now from the challeges of 2008 and that pesky volcano called Chaiten…
A hatch for the ages, always and forever in the summer months.
Like the Amazon in a first glance, this giant spring creek winds itself to the ocean some 30 miles away and houses 7 different species of fish we catch often…
Wonderful lunches made daily by Carola, satifies a river hunger and a lovely bottle of Chilean wine warms the heart for part two of your journey.
A photo finish with a trout caught on a dry mid-day as the main course.
Then the bite is on in Atlantic City!
Atlantic Salmon one after another!

And a new record broken. 5 double hook-ups and 22 Atlantic Salmon in one location, I think that qualifies as a honey hole!
Beefy, I say beefy!
A happy man, a long way from home….
The release, the guarantee that he’ll be here for you and your children.

Wide, clear, private and full of trout!
Our 3rd day out and we haven’t seen another boat!
And boy was this river on fire..
Dave then jumped out of the boat with one on and continued to fish this awesome riffle.
Scott enjoyed the scenery and the climate difference from Idaho.
Trout were always at home near structure at the Snag Hotel.
With bugs flying every where, we still gave it the thumbs-up!
Precious.
Every where we looked we couldn’t help but to feel that we were all in our element that day.
More structures, more trout!
A nice hook-up, just about any where.
Almost lunch and over 20 trout each, that qualifies for a great first half!
Scott and David enjoy a very special Kuntsman beer on the private section of the Rio Petrohue in Patagonia Chile.
almost everyone loves a big juicy steak and a great beer out on a wonderful river.
Carola made her famous gnocchi with fresh baked breads. Yea, this was a wonderful lunch, served with another great Chilean wine.
After lunch we hooked into Leroy Brown!
A face only a mother could love…..
What would 4 our of 5 dentist think?
Scott Miller, CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE MY CO-SIZZLER OF THE WEEK!!
What in the % # @ (*^ % # @ * was this guy thinking? Fish are every where…? Since there were no passengers (though we were looking for carnage or bodies) It still qualifies as 3 complete days without another soul on the river.
Another turn of the river another striking and awesome view.
Pocket water using stone flies is another great way to spend a day in the Patagonia. These rivers have no dams, so the scenes early season are raw and wild. The river chooses its course at what ever speed it likes, not impailed by dams foreign to its forces of Mother Nature.
David Harker, CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE THE CO-SIZZLER OF THE WEEK!!
Scott with “Brownie Points”…..
A healthy colorful trout at that!
Now that’s brotherly-in-law love…
More “Brownie Points” for Dave.
A fine specimen indeed.
The GPS says that Dona Dominga is this weeks winner of the Chilean Winer Award.
It can be found every where throughout Chile and is a great value and taste for under $6 USD per bottle. A nice Cab, that starts out fruit-forward, with a hint of oak and remains balanced down the hatch!
I like wines that are not spicy, but have some character, this one won’t you let you down as far as lunch wines go.
Relax, you’re in Patagonia…..

Hi Guys,
I’m heading to Glover’s Atoll resort in mid March. What flies rod weights do you recommend? Is it worth bringing a 10 wieght that time of year? I noticed you mentioned specifically bringing an intermediate line to Glover’s-is this used often or incidentally? Please let me know.
Tight Lines,
Craig Amacker
I have a 3.8 acre parcel, an 8.14 acre parcel and a 26 acre parcel on the Trinity River for sale (Del Loma). The properties have water from a well (vs river or stream) + electricity with water frontage of 400¢â¡Á, 800¢â¡Á and 1200¢â¡Á respectfully. The 26 acre parcel has access to Bergman¢â¡Ás hole/BLM property.
Do you know anyone interested in Trinity River vacation property? The 8.14 acre parcel has a small cabin on it, etc.
Thanks,

Hello and Happy New Year!!!
I am very interested in finding out more information on trout fishing trips to Upper and lower Sacramento river. I specifically interested in following:
1. Prices per person
2. Whether or not we’ll be able to keep our catch
(if any, of course)
3. Whether or not we can fish from shore
(since we don’t have a boat)
4. what exactly do we need to bring with us, if we agree on date, time, and price.
Thank you in advance,
Irina
. One was Jeff Hanlon (who also called me), he wanted a recommendation on an organization dealing with fishing that he could donate to in memory of a friend who passed away. I told him to e-mail you and he said he would.
The other was Vicki Vermeulen, 530-336-5953 530-336-5953 , she wanted info on bookinig a trip for steelhead fishing. I called her back and left a message for her to e-mail you. Hope everything is going great.

Hey Jack – I’d like to purchase a dozen minnows from you and I’d like you to tell me how to get the materials to make them myself…I don’t know my address yet, but I will tonight or tomorrow.
The action on them is incredible – I’ve never seen anything fish this well. The next best action I know (for stripping back to the boat) is the clouser that jigs on the strip.
I forgot to tell you that I already knew the thumb on top strip – I got it from a guide about ten years ago looking for stripers in MA, and what I was going to tell you is that you are doing as right as I know.

What’s up Jack! how have you been? how is the new year starting out? hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Jack,
Sorry so slow in responding, life has taken over again. I shocked my wife with the bottle of wine, she really liked the little Pinot I picked out. Thanks too for the link, I’ll take a look at it when I have some down time. I have a lot to learn, but should be fun.
I picked up the Into the Wild soundtrack (it’s a great one) and watched the movie (pretty powerful). Two more great pointers from Mr. Trout.
Hope all is well, Dave Harker
