*****FLY FISHING TRIPS ON THE UPPER SACRAMENTO ~ LOWER SACRAMENTO & TRINITY RIVERS*****
RAFT – FLY FISHING TRIPS BEGIN NOW ON THE UPPER SACRAMENTO RIVER!!!
I made it back to the good ole USA! Mt Shasta looking as beautiful as ever as she promises me a great rafting-fly fishing season on the Upper Sac. I looked up at her and winked a look of gratitude, as a shiver ran up my body filled with excitement for the upcoming fly fishing season has arrived on time!
The X- Terra and the Huckleberry-Dogonit rafty is ready for action! Man, I’m getting excited, Upper Sac YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
The river looks perfect, right level and running clear! This is crazy fun people!!
Out with my friends and guides Aaron and Anthony, what could be better….Maybe YOU!
After some small rapids we hit some great water and started fishing.
Can you say…Hook-up automatico!!! These fish are hungry after a long cold winter.
Morning sugar!
The first fish of the season! It never gets old folks, like an aging bottle of vino tinto, with age the trip gets more mature.
Oh yea, now for some great rapids I know like an older brother’s wisdom. Embrace turbulence
and face it head on!
Nothing is better than the thrill of the Upper Sac in the spring.
Respect the river and the rest is cake!
Raft-dancing and fly fishing on the river is my specialty.
This is a trip that takes years to understand, I have been rafting this river since 1993.
This trout was enormous, and got off!
This one didn’t get away….
Nothing but net people.
That spot looks great!
Sweet drift man….
Life is great out here, forget all your problems and let the river do its healing.
Fish on brother!
The trout that launched a thousand ships!
Caddis are out and saying howdy!
Anthony tearing them up, while Aaron was asleep at the wheel all day! Aaron did you really miss over 8 hook-ups? Aaron’s got a new project he’s brewing up in Dunsmuir, maybe this could be why he’s missing so many strikes…? I know it’s not in the water…
Fun!
Anthony with a double digit day out in my raft on the Upper Sac this past week!
Use P.T’s now to imitate mayflies in the Upper Sacramento river, size 16 & 14.
It makes sense now why Aaron missed all those fish out in my raft, he’s working hard to open Dunsmuir’s first ever brewery! The Dunsmuir Brewery! Wow, if only Babe Ruth could have lived long enough to see this endeavor, he would have been a customer for sure! Babe Ruth loved beer and the town of Dunsmuir. He visited and hung out several times in Dunsmuir in the 1920’s.
Right on Aaron Greener! You brew your special batch using the magic waters of Mother Mt Shasta! I can’t wait to taste your Upper Sac and McCloud River Rainbow brew!
Load it up, ship it out – Raw-Hide!
David Clarno, good luck with Aaron on this important project for the town of Dunsmuir! Employees is a word not heard often in Dunsmuir. I like the sound of that, has a good jingle to it!
Bottoms out rapid! You’re playing my song man!
I wait all year for these trips on the Upper Sacramento River, and now it is here!
I LOVE YOU MAN!! jt
April is a fantastic month to head up and fly fish with me! In fact, I have openings this weekend and the weather is supposed to be in the high 60’s on Sunday. Check weather for Lakehead, California and you’ll see what I mean. Come on up, the river runs through it!

Thanks for watching our adventures! You are all I need, in darkness, she’s all I see!
Jack & Carola Trout!
Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew
That someday it would bring me back to you
That someday it would bring me back to you
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on sunday morning
And I never want to leave
Fingers trace your every outline
Paint a picture with my hands
Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm
Change the weather still together when it ends
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on sunday morning
And I never want to leave
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
Sunday morning rain is falling and I≠m calling out to you
Singing someday it≠ll bring me back to you
Find a way to bring myself home to you
And you may not know
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow
This is for you Carola, I love you and miss you, Jack

Jack,
Congratulations on your engagement. Way to go.
I only wish I could do a trip with you on the Sac. My wife has dictated that I save my $ for a trip to Guanajuato (Mexico) in June instead. What can you do..?
John

Got your voicemail. Hoping to get a drift in on the Upper Sac soon, but I’ve been crazy busy….but in good way….I’ll tell you later.

Thanks

Hi Jack,
We have some excellent vacation rentals here in McCloud. Two of which have a stream running through the property. All are very close to the river and reservoir. www.mccloudrentals.com We would like to be added to your list of recommendations. Please let us know what we need to do.
Thank You,

Jack, thanks for the report on Upper Sac float. That sounds like an
interesting trip and I love that water. Please let me know how the season
develops as I would like to go with you. (Right now we are tied down while
getting a solution to my wife’s spinal issues, but that may be over soon.)

Great news, Jack! Congratulations!
Saw that you called and left a message on my phone; I≠m in Austria until Tuesday when I fly to North Carolina to do some fishing on the South Holston and the Watauga rivers; great dry fly action! Then I≠m off to St. Croix for a couple of weeks. I≠ll be back in California April 13th. I≠d love to float the Upper Sac when you think it can be done. Let me know.

Jack:
I’m now leaving Tuesday March 25 for South America.
The Star Princess has`a fly fishing shore excursion only in Puerto Montt for an outrageous $549. Would you like me to try to contact the Princess people who book shore excursions to drum up some business for you?
My cruise stops at Ushuaia April 5 from 7:00AM to 4:00PM. Any good fishing there for Searun Brown Trout on Rio Chico or Gallegos? I see the Rio Grande is 4 hours driving away.Any fishing contacts in Ushuaia?
My cruise stops in Punta Arenas April 6 from 7:00AM to 8:00PM. Is it worth fishing there? Any contacts?
It looks like we will get off the ship in Puerto Montt vs Santiago. Can you recommend a nice, safe, reasonably priced place to stay there or in a surrounding town that my wife would find acceptable?
Can I book your guy in Puerto Montt via e-mail after I get on the cruise ship and find a fishing buddy to share expenses????
Thanks,
Kent
Jack,
We are currently having Spring Break–I’m headed to Mexico with my kids and by brother-in-law (Dave) is in California with his kids. We spoke yesterday and feel you are what we are looking for–what type of down payment do you need? I won’t be able to access a computer until next Sunday at the earliest. Thank.

Yo jack
I just got back from being out of town since last Sunday. What Up???? Taylor said you want me to go rafting on Saturday. Would love to but it is Taylors 18th and we are having a party for her.
Would love to do that sometime with you . Want to hear all about your trip to South America.
Mitch
Jack, You finally found the one, and there is no feeling like it. I’m really happy for you. My son and I will come celebrate with you on the upper Sac this spring. Lets find a date!

Jack,
Thanks for your email √ It was interesting when I received your last
update from South America, I immediately noticed a more animated

and know you have a rich and exciting (new) life ahead √
I≠m still wading through the divorce and searching for that gorgeous,
Brunette, who wants to be with a generous and caring man the
greatest reward I have from my marriage are my three Angels –
Caroline, Elisabeth and Katie, who bring be constant joy and look
forward to another trip with you!
Tell me, what would you suggest for a trip in the summer?
Regards,
Jack H.
P.S.
Do you know any hot, single (35+) Brunettes in the Bay Area?
Hi Jackson,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you (I did get your phone message). Talked to Gary this evening.
We are proposing a one day float trip with you, Upper Sac, on either April 15th, April 16th or April 17th. You pick the day.
Let me know what will work.
Great to hear about your engagement…. is this for real?
Best to you, Bob
Jack,
Is there any financial advantage to running a trip together if we
organized a group to the same area (i.e. larger group discount)?
The shots of the Rio Negro looked like kiteboarding potential? Any of
these beaches look familiar or near where you fly fish?

Hey Jack, I talked to Jim Heick, the retired teacher, with whom we fished on the Trinity this winter and also with Gary Barnes another fly fishing buddy. Both will get back to me this week and I will have your answer as soon as I hear from one or both of them. I understant that you are only talking about two anglers for this special offer.
I am heading up to Oregon either on March 29 or March 30 for about two weeks. Would a trip on the Upper Sac be in the cards or Sunday, March 30 or perhaps March 31?
Bob
Hi,
I was wondering if you have any latest news on Bull Trout re-introduction status on the Upper McCloud River? I know there was an attempt back in 1990 to re-introduce them with Klammath Basin fish but it was unsuccessful. Furthermore I heard it was done inside the Hearst Corp. land near Wyntoon and there has been some conflicts as to whether or not to try it again. McCloud Dam may need to come down for a population to be re-established but wanted to know if you’ve heard anything new since you are so conected locally up there. I’ve caught all 12 Native trout in CA (DFG California Heritage Trout Challenge Certificates #5 & #57) and hope to one day before I die catch a Bull Trout in CA. Any info you have would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Jack √ still the coolest website around! Thanks for these, I am still stuck in Iowa wishing I was home but these pics give me hope! I will be out in August I think, and most definitely fishing our river.
Take care,
