 Klamath River so amazingly beautiful, like a post card

until the dreaded “Leaf Hatch” occurs

in late November. It comes and goes and we still catch

fish but on the real windy days it can

be a bummer. I haven’t had one day effected so

far this season, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed and

hope it doesn’t all go on one day.

 Way to go Sizzler! You know why fly fishing is so special.. This kid came up for his first time

and caught steelhead all day long, but when he returned home and told his parents it was the

best time he had ever had in his life next to the time he dated that babe with pony tails from

9th grade. I guess mom got really choked up and tears of joy were expressed. I have to

admit, it’s pretty fun out here and were making people’s dreams come true. If you want

come back and bring mom, heck we’ll  hook her up too!

 What I like best about the Klamath steelhead is 99% are wild trout!

  So healthy and cromer, this steelhead looked like ones we catch down by Orleans swinging traditional flies.

 I was so happy to see this trout!! What a fox of  a fish!!

 Rich Creeggan and I have fished for years together and sure have enjoyed our times with 

Jim Crawford out on all sections of the Upper and Lower Klamath as well as the Upper Sac Raft Trip.  Jim has passed now, but our adventures live on in past web logs that will always be burned into the basement of time as well as a warm feeling inside when he’s mentioned out in the boat. Jim Crawford was a man who loved the Klamath River, the outdoors and his son Kevin who is attending Davis University. I will always be proud and honored that I knew a man as kind and as concerned as Jim.

He was more than just a client, he was a friend and will always be remembered out on the river where his soul has since rested.

 Right in the yapper – snapper! That was one great hook-up and fight. I know we’d rather catch steelhead but when you get a semi fresh landable salmon like this on a 7 wt fly rod….

 Carola and I donated a 3 day fly fishing adventure with lodging and a trip to the Isle de

Chiloe to see the penguins to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butte County and it went for

$4000!! We were so happy for this organization that brings awareness and attention to

aid our youth.

Our youth needs the most attention & restoration these days, that’s why we also support youth programs….

 Then something totally romantic happened as the lights went dim and everything went silent …..

Right i need to get the flights booked in the next couple of days to get to Puerto Montt on the 3rd and i will book as soon as i have the flights. I would like 2 days fishing (i would want more but i need to see other parts of Chile with my dad and fancy some Kayaking). Could i have some more information about the location of the lodge and where the hosteria would be i.e. location and access to places to eat etc.. Would there be meals included at the lodge on an evening and food provided during the fishing trip? so i can decide which one i want to book please. I am v excited about it all. Paul

I don’t know if you have seen or been exposed to Hoopa and others claim that the Klamath Restoration Agreement flows are not good for fish. Here is a nice rebuttal to those erroneous claims by Yurok Tribe scientists. Also letter of support from Dr. Hardy, author of Hardy flow studies.

Hello Jack, 

I am please to tell you that the historic package of bills passed this week by the California State Legislature included a water bond that calls for $250 million  to be used to help pay for California’s share of the cost to de-commision the dams on the Klamath River.  It was at my request that this funding was contained inthe bond bill.  Now all we have to do is to convince the voters of the State of California to approve the bond when it is on the ballot in November, 2010.
