CHILE & ARGENTINA 2008 SIGN-UPS START JULY 31ST
DECEMBER BELIZE BONE FISH/PERMIT MAYAN RIVER CAVE TRIP SIGN-UPS
Have you ever gone over the Parks Creek Road USFS 17 to highway 3? There are many great views just west of the famous Stewart Mineral Springs, and here up high is where the Trinity River is born. With the help of many tributaries and feeder creeks that run off the backside of Mt Eddy and the Trinity Alps . Who knows you might get a nice animal photo or better yet a drive with a friend or loved one into one of California’s most remote areas.
When The Hollidays arrived to Shasta, it was a top hat holiday extravaganza! Pops~ Jack Holliday, Katie, Elisabeth & Caroline.
Trinity Alps from just below Deadfall Lakes on Mt Eddy.
We stopped at Old Bridge Rafting in Lewiston. Give them a call to rent a raft or go on a rafting trip. They also rent pontoon boats.

Katie’s first trout on the Trinity River.
Then we stopped at Rush Creek for water-wars!
Dad’s not putting up with that business!!
Caroline proved to be battle ready and kept Dad and everyone wet most of the day!
Dad later said if you can’t beat them, you might as well join them and jumped into the Trinity River with his PFD (personal floatation device ~ life vest Cameron!) and floated down the riffle with daughter Elizabeth. Thanks again Hollidays, had a great time! jt
Up high in the mountains west of Mt Shasta lays historic Carrville.
In the Carrville Valley you can still find the Carrville Inn, Bed and Breakfast built in 1854. The inn, rebuilt in 1917 after fire destroyed the 1854 structure, gleamed against evergreens, old oaks, apple and cherry trees. A weathered barn burbled with farm animals. A trail led to the Carr family graveyard with its moss-eaten headstones, including those of four children who died of diphtheria in the 1800s.
Owners Sheri and Dave Overly had left Stockton behind for the inn’s country elegance.
Everywhere I looked I saw antiques and this place took me far back in time, to a place when miners ruled the rivers and sluice boxes were like caskets in disguise. For it was the inn keepers like Stephen Carr, the owner of many mining claims in Trinity County and other tack shop owners who sold a service along the gold trails that made most of the riches or an existence.(Mining puts man at odds with Mother Earth). Places like the historic Carrville Inn were incredibly important for miners passing by and the owners of these claims who would stop by and stay at the Carrville Inn when checking in on their crews, claims and mines. Also a few celebrities have stayed at this famous resort. It’s neat to think that about the same time over on the other side of the hills, Ole Justin Sisson, the founder of Mt Shasta was welcoming guests into his inn around the vicinity of the Mt Shasta Fish Hatchery.
(Mt Shasta Fish Hatchery is the oldest hatchery in the United States 1888).
Up high on the upper deck I could feel the gentle breeze from the mountains air brushing my grin. The swing in the front yard looked romantically fun!
Let’s have a round at the saloon silver spurs!
Clark Gable stayed here before and played this piano!
Look at that old cash register guaranteed payment by Smith & Wesson.
Now that’s a nice safe from the 1860’s.
President Hoover stayed here before and after his presidency. He loved fishing and hunting in and around Trinity County and one of his favorite places to stay was the Carrville Inn and his secret mountain cabin out in the forest of Trinity County.

Great adventures, fabulous pictures! Who wouldn’t want to book a trip to Belize with Jack Trout, cave explorer, tube-floater, photographer, cliff diver, and tropical dancer…yes, dancer…what timing and fancy footwork it took to tango with a poisonous pit viper in the tropics of Central America and come out alive! I’m starting to put some photos together at this time ..The sad thing is as many photos that were taken of my father they all belonged to some one else .The funny thing about my father was he did not care about that part. All he wanted to do was fish and have a good old fashion at the end of the day.I will put together what I have and I would be more then happy to share them with you .Keep up the good work and as always I look forward to your tales and photos.
Keep a tight line

Hi, Jack:
Just a note to let you know how much the ladies at the Rendezvous enjoyed their fishing with you. We are scheduled next year for the 3rd weekend of June. Id possibly be interested in floating the Upper Sac that weekend (or shortly before) with our credit from this years trip that we had to cancel. Let me know if we would be better off booking that trip earlier in the year (May), so that we can pick a date.
Also, I have a favor. I know that you took a group short of the ladies at the B & B. Might you be willing to email a copy of the photograph to me for posting on the IWFF website and in our Newsletter?
Thanks, Jack,
Judith Austin Brown
